I've Got A Gal


  • 2 oz. Journeyman Distillery White Rye Whiskey

  • 1.25 oz. Pineapple Juice

  • .75 oz. Fresh Pressed Lime Juice

  • 1 oz. Simple Syrup (2:1 sugar/water ratio)

  • 1 slice Habanero Pepper (about the size of a pea. More if you like her HOT.

​Muddle the habanero pepper with simple syrup in a sturdy mixing glass. Add whiskey and juices. Add ice to Boston Shaker. Shake ingredients for 10 seconds. Strain into a cocktail glass. Sip. Smile. Enjoy!

She was created in less than a five-minute phone call with Discover Kalamazoo while I was traveling to Chicago for Bon Appetit's Chicago Gourmet weekend. I rattled off the ingredients and proportions rather hastily as I was on I-94 heading West and was less than two miles from the Indiana border. I had to ensure The Gal was actually born in Michigan.

This is the TRUE recipe. Many have tried to recreate her and were unsuccessful. I am confident you will carry on her sweet heat liquid personality in all the good ways. CHEERS!
