This will be an outdoor, socially distanced, demonstration where you will learn how to craft four non-alcoholic drinks, including how to make your own tonic water at home! You will leave with the knowledge, recipes, and confidence to craft your tonic, and an 8 oz. jar of tonic or soda syrup to begin using immediately at your homestead. 


Angie will be sharing the rich history of carbonation and discuss the nuances and complexities of each uniquely crafted beverage. Come enjoy the fresh air, safely taste, and get ready to learn how to drink well with less!

The Traveling Elixir Fixer invites you to enter the world of home bar cocktail mixing! Learn how to mash, muddle, mix, blend, shake and stir your way through the classic pre-prohibition approach to cocktail mixing, using local seasonal ingredients.

Angie will demonstrate the techniques that are used to create these tantalizing elixirs and will share recipes for homemade syrups and mixers that will allow you to create beautifully crafted cocktails at home without spending a fortune. A list of ingredients needed for the demonstration will be sent ahead of time if you chose to follow along with the demonstration. Angie will also share the history and folklore of the cocktails, and share her knowledge of spirits that are used to create them. She will show you the correct way to mix drinks with the proper bar tools, and will also show you how to "hack" your way with common kitchen utensils.

During this class, we will discuss basic bar equipment, new and inventive ideas for garnishing, and how to make your own fresh mixers. Angie will demonstrate two drinks, that are crafted from everyday ingredients found in your cupboards and fridge. A PDF of recipes will be forwarded to you upon your registration. WORKSHOP

Join Angie Jackson, The Traveling Elixir Fixer, for a Wildcraft journey that will feature ginger root, cardamom pods, bittering agents, and other botanicals used in creating your own style of Bitters and medicinal tinctures. The workshop includes our signature DIY Bitters Kit and a 90-minute virtual workshop to be held on a date TBD (7pm-9pm EST). Angie will discuss the history of bitters, each botanical component, flavor profiles to use, and other tips and tricks on how to create your own style of bitters and tinctures at home.

The Elixir Bitters #2 kit includes instructions and all the Botanicals you need to create your own bitters plus a Mason Jar to store your magical bittered and spirited concoction. Add your own spirit and in a little over four weeks you will have a delightful Bittered seasoning for your drinks. Add a dropper to seltzer to ease symptoms of an upset stomach, season your classic cocktail with a new flavor profile, or add to coffees and teas for an amazing sipping experience. Bitters are great to add to your culinary creations as well. Primary Flavor Profiles: Ginger, Cardamom, Anise, Cinnamon.

Mixologist Angie Jackson, the Traveling Elixir Fixer, has designed this on-going elixir show to celebrate all things LOCAL for you thirsty cocktailians and it is dedicated to all things Kalamazoo. Angie will feature two signature cocktails on each show that will be designed around Kalamazoo's history. She will send you a list of ingredients to purchase prior to the event so you may muddle, shake, stir, sip, and smile at remembering and learning the rich history our community has accumulated over the years.

Join Angie Jackson, aka The Traveling Elixir Fixer, for a workshop on Wildcraft Cocktails and Apothecary Elixirs and learn how to craft high-quality elixirs, tonics, and infused medicinal spirits at home.

 

Angie scours through historical apothecary books, modernizes recipes, sources the hard-to-find ingredients, and carefully measures each component and formula in order to help you craft tonics, tinctures, elixirs, and medicinal spirits at home with ease. Wildcraft tested and Apothecary approved, you will take great delight in creating beautiful flavorings and seasonings for your beverages.

Angie will present the tinctures in "elixir" form and will be discussing the spirited history and the ingredients used to craft these medicine cabinet "must-haves". You will sample tinctures and the recipes will be sent upon registration in PDF form.

Mason Jar Mixology

In this virtual demonstration, let's hang out with a Mason Jar and muddle, mash, shake, stir, and roll with the Swiss Army Knife of utility glassware and storage.
